Richard Juarez (BSMP, KPI-P)

Richard is a Senior Consultant with the Strategy Management Group/Balanced Scorecard Institute (BSI) and Director of Strategy Execution. Richard has led operations for profit and non-profit organizations in the US, Latin America, and the Middle East, and served in multiple executive-level roles over the last 20 years.

Richard’s passion is helping organizations solve problems and implement strategy. His experience gives him a unique perspective on challenges and decisions that organizations with complex designs face while on their Balanced Scorecard journey, including establishing and improving strategy management and project management offices (SMOs and PMOs) and functions, project review boards and governance processes, alignment of strategy to individual goals, and performance reviews and reporting functions.

Previously, Richard was Executive Director, Project and Performance Management for a mid-sized nonprofit that offers diverse services through its healthcare subsidiaries in San Antonio, Texas. There he led the PMO and established the SMO/strategic planning process for the parent organization, its five subsidiaries, and support units. He led his organization in implementing BSI’s Nine Steps to Success™ strategy framework, where his efforts led his organization being awarded BSI’s Award for Excellence, an award given to organizations that demonstrate significant breakthrough results using the balanced scorecard approach.

Richard also has served as CEO of a community action agency, led security operations of over 750 staff in the Middle East, served in the US Marine Reconnaissance community, and worked abroad in Mexico City, Mexico and Lima, Peru.

Richard earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Healthcare Administration from Texas State University and his MBA from Sul Ross State University. He also earned Executive Certificates in Project Management from Universidad ESAN in Lima, Peru and in Measuring and Improving Business Performance from Cornell University. Richard holds certifications as a Balanced Scorecard Master Professional (BSMP-BSI), Project Management Professional (PMP-PMI), and Key Performance Indicator Professional (KPIP-BSI). Richard was also a secondary author for A Guide to the Business Architecture Body of Knowledge® (BIZBOK® Guide), v 5.1; 2016.
